Boy, did it rain?

I'm not complaining, we need the water (I'm sure).  It even snowed a little (coming down) but it melted when it hit the ground (yay, no shoveling, for sure).  Beautiful rainbow late yesterday afternoon! and an awesome sunset. Top all that off with a visit from good friends, Lee & Shelia...who cares if it rains?
Hey, it's a double rainbow!
It actually hurt to look toward the sun it was so bright!

Say Hi Lee (and there's Kermit, the MH in the drive)

Hmmm....

This property owner has been busy building something.  Not sure what it will be used for, but it will have a tall fence around it (the fence posts went in a few weeks ago).  We have been doing "drive bys" to watch the progress and I took the following pictures each time.... Still curious what's it for??

Closing in the framing, this is driving past / back-side view

Here is the back view from the next lot

This is the front, he's hammering away... but what is it?

Strange Pets

Some folks keep donkeys and / or horses on their property but never ride them.  I guess those are pets, or contained animals anyway.  I saw a cute pet in the back of a truck the other day on Highway 160 at the center of town. It made me smile.
First I noticed Nanny (goat) and smiled....

Then I noticed the truck had a "Search & Rescue" sticker ...

She even has on a collar, definitely a pet!

Another driver was also smiling and taking photos
Isn't it wonderful we all have Iphones and can snap pictures when we see 'em!

Fixin' Up our Culverts

So, time to fix up the culverts so they don't get crushed if someone misses the driveway (yep, one was already bent...fixing that involved putting the floor jack inside it and extending it until it pushed the pipe back up). Resourceful husband! The hydraulic jack did the job.  The pictures below were taken over a two-day period.

First, he made three of these forms.
Got the concrete, check, got out tools, check....

A view looking down at the cement in the form
View of the second one he poured, same day. This one has been floated (note the moisture at top) but not edged yet, see how you can't see the edge of the cement - it just goes right up to the plywood.
Edging the top so the side edges will be sharp.
Starting to pull the form (remove it).
Form's off, backfill - eventually.... (form at top of photo, will be reused)
Front view of the other one.  Two more were poured today.
Mixing the concrete from sacks (in a wheelbarrow), it took 3.5 bags per form.  Lots of muscle to mix the concrete by hand and then shovel it into the form. At the end of the day I had one tired husband!  YAY Bill, job well done!

I like beach glass...what about Desert Glass???

One thing that can be said is, there appears to be lots of it and it sparkles in the sun! Like treasure, but not gold....

Until it meets rock or tire, it stays in one solid form....Not so shiny.

A mixture of brown and clear glass is interesting.
Mirrors can become desert glass too:

And, much like fools gold, beware the plastic! :)

WEEK 8 - 2 months??

Who knew we would be so busy already?  And where do the days go, that's what I want to know. I think of what I did over the past several weeks and the list of accomplishments isn't that large.  Oh well, no deadlines!!  I love it.  So, on my walks, I like to take my camera.  Today's thought - If good neighbors make good fences, what are good fences made of?  Neighbors?  Hmmm.  How about tires and dirt:

There are lots of other creative fence materials.  I need to get some more photos to share!!

WEEK 7

So much to see and do!!  My sister, Jane, made a visit this week. We didn't do a lot of sight seeing but managed to visit our favorite stores - Secret Sisters & Twisted Sisters. Elvis was also in town!
